Climate change and physical environment

A LONE FISHERMAN PICKS HIS WAY THROUGH THE SEA ICE TAKING AN OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE AN AREA WHICH NORMALLY WOULD BE FROZEN SOLID. THE GEOLOGICAL SURVEY OF DENMARK AND GREENLAND HAS RECENTLY RECORDED FALLS IN THE THICKNESS OF THE GREENLAND ICE SHEET OF UP TO ONE METRE (THREE FEET) PER MONTH IN SOME AREAS.

    Excellent work.
At long last a motivatred, independent (and respectable!) organisation is tackling the corporate world and finacial giants to help them face the real and undeniable issue of climate change, and requisite actions towards sustainable developemnt. We are responsible for climate change- the problems and the solutions. We need to work fast and hard in persuading businesses, the public sector and individuals to take responsibility for what they are doing and to change towards a low carbon economy. The world economy does not revolve around money, the modern unilateral exchange is carbon - it has to go or there will be no economy.

I had stayed in greenland one year ago, and the old people explain me that they had never seen the sea as full of ice in their lives (it was september). In my country doesn’t rain since 8 month ago, and the fire is burning the damaged forest. Is we continue in that way, spain will become a desert in a few years.
    Nice photos
    see you

Another thing contributing to global warming is, the destroying of trees in the rainforests around the world. Besides destroying many unknown medincinal plants that could have just the right ingredients to cure many diseases, people are also destroying some main heat absorbers - the many green leaves on the trees! I just wish that people would quit thinking that things they are doing isn’t hurting anyone, when it’s hurting everyone. I’m talking long term, not short term. Even in the city I live in in Florida, everytime I turn around, a big area of trees is being cut down. Why? All for money. What good is the money going to do if we’re not around to spend it, or reap its benefits. Just makes sense to me to think these people are not looking at the big picture. Everything these days are, instant gratification. I wonder how it felt in the pioneer days to breathe in unpolluted air…..hmm, just a thought. Thank you for your time and have a great day! Sincerely, Diane

Outstanding work. These photo’s show what scientists say in words many find too hard to really grasp. Like they say, “A picture is worth a 1000 words”. We, own this problem and need to step to the plate to fix it.

  5. Virginia Schmidt-Eberhard Says:

We face a different and interesting future! Namibia, on the South West coast of Africa has had the wettest rain season recorded. We don’t know if it is a one off occurance as we were predicted to get hotter and dryer.

I was facinated to see terra firma emerge in Greenland after all these icy years.
Hope they can adapt to the change. Thanks for the Pictures.

  6. Howard Engel Says:

well, here it is. not to sound gloomy, but our existance of luxury, self comforting and disreguard for the after effects has just handed us the bill…time to pay the bill. good luck all, may your god be with you.

THE ARE BEATIFUL AND SCARY ALL IN ONE BREATH, I RECYCLE, ANS I CAR POOL AND USE MY GREEN BIN AND USE BLUE BAGS. i EVEN CLEAN MY NEIGHBOURS YARD AND PLAYGROUND. i LOOK AT THESE PICTURE WISH KNOW HOW TO HELP MORE?

  9. Ed Reeves Says:

I don’t know what it will take to convince President Bush and his advisors of the fact of global warming! He is being ill advised by his science advisors and lacks the knowledge to ascertain the situation accurately. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until the real situation becomes apparent, and by then it may be too late to take the important early steps to reduce the problem and control its continuance.

  10. tony owens Says:

It’s about time, whew, you think that the U.S. and it’s Big Business interest would take this issue more seriouly, concerining thier grad kid’s and our’s will face a devastating reality to change the way we live. National Public Radio has taken this challenge to the streets from the Globe Head In NSA to address this issue now. The ball is in our court. It’s a world issue so Let’s Get Busy Now!

  11. Richie Rivera Says:

How long will it take for the water to rise around the world?

  12. Elizabeth Chapman Says:

Thank you for reminding all of the people how precious our earth is, and just the tragedy of what we are doing to it. Everyone must be aware,by pc or knowledge of any means that we are destroying our home (earth), day by day. I am a conservationist at heart, recyle, and renew. I believe to leave a place better than you found it.
I hopefully pray that something can be done to stop this climate change. We will be the ones who pay for it if it continues.
    Sincerely, Elizabeth

  13. billy joshua teoh Says:

i feel that organisations out there should voice out. they should do whatever it takes to get this matter into the most serious issue cause if nothing is doone polar bears in the polar regions would be extinct cause of the change in their climate and habitat. furthermore, we are the ones that will suffer in the end if nothing is done. i don’t think that any of us want to face another ice age.

  14. james macpherson Says:

Global warming has become a reality, even in the foothills of northern Ca. How can help? These days you have to shock people to look or even to think,. when I come down off the mountain, rarely I think , how are you going to get all of these cars off the road, when there is no mass transit. I sugjest we redesign railways and bring Trains back.
