A SWIRL OF ICE IN THE SEA BETWEEN TWO LUMPS OF BARE ROCK DEVOID OF ALL VEGETATION. IN THE BACKGROUND ARE GROUNDED ICEBERGS WHICH HAVE CALVED FROM GLACIERS. THIS IS THE EDGE OF GREENLAND EMERGING FROM ITS LONG ICE AGE, BUT FOR THE REST OF THE WORLD THE MELTING ICE MEANS SEA LEVEL RISE.

  1. Ruth Says:

    Dear Paul,
This is pretty scary. I understand that with the melting of the ice caps the sea water levels are raising and have been told that this will effect the coast line around Austrustia . Is this true? Will Melbourne and other cities that are built around the coast be under water eventually or will this happen suddenly?
    Sincerely yours,
    Ruth

  2. TIFF Says:

This information is very alarming. I was aware that the icecaps were melting, but with all the other natural disasters occuring, it makes one carefully consider the situation. The people on this Earth need to work TOGETHER to salvage what we have, and make preparations to preserve our future here. We need to act now. Global Warming is the cause of many drastic changes in Earths climate. This is certain. What do we need to to? Stop pumping the atmosphere with harmful gases. Stop pumping our rivers/streams with toxic wastes. Stop littering our Earth. Stop destroying wetlands and precious forests. Walk when you can walk. Cook when you can cook. Get out of the chair and turn the T.V. off when you can. Turn off the lights when they do not need to be on. Turn off the water when you do not need it to be on. Recycle all the time. All these things and many more are extremely necessary to save OUR EARTH. We cannot afford to be lazy anymore. We rely on electronics and we like it on easy street. But it is time to work. It is time to repair our mistakes. It is time to change our habits, and our ways of life. WE have to save ourselves.

  3. VERONICA OLGUIN Says:

IF NOTHING MORE THESE AWESOME PICTURES REMINDS US THAT OUR PLANET IS ALIVE AND WE ARE MERE INHABITANTS. WE DO NOT OWN THIS PRECIOUS WORLD AND YET CAN NOT SURVIVE WITHOUT IT. THAT BEING SAID WE MUST TAKE ACTION TO KEEPING OUR ENVIRONMENT AS HEALTHY AS POSSIBLE. IN THE END THIS UNIVERSE WILL SURVIVE US ALL BUT WE CAN NOT SURVIVE THESE DRASTIC CHANGES BEING MADE TO OUR PLANET.

  4. Roshelle Barnett-Jones Says:

The picture are wonderful i never saw the world like that. It was an eye opener for me and my family thank you for taking such great shots.

  5. Michaela Dougherty Says:

I hope our goveernment does something about this soon! We need to see more articles like this one to keep us informed. I noticed a difference in the weather 2 years ago in November when I was able to put the Christmas lights out without a winter coat. Our winters have changed here in Ohio. We use to get snow by the bucket fulls, but no so much anymore. Thank you for your study. Michaela

  6. Michaela Dougherty Says:

I have more than noticed a huge change here in our weather this winter 2006/January 2007. We have had temperatures up to 60 degrees in December. The weather did not get colc until January when the first snow came to the Ohio Valley. I wish more people would know that this change in weather is not a good thing. I wish It was still like it was when I was a young girl.
