ELEPHANTS ARE CONSTANTLY ON THE MOVE LOOKING FOR PLACES TO FEED AND BATHE, OFTEN TRAVELLING LONG DISTANCES TO AVOID DROUGHTS. IN TANZANIA, MORE AND MORE ARE INVADING THE FORESTS OF KILIMANJARO AS THEIR HOMES ON THE PLAINS ARE DRYING OUT. ONCE IN THE FOREST THE ELEPHANTS CAUSE SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO A FRAGILE ECOSYSTEM ALREADY AT RISK FROM OUR CHANGING CLIMATE.

I am travelling to Africa in September 2005. I am to climb Mt Kilimanjaro and then particiate in a volunteer position in Tsavo National Park Kenya. It is only after looking at this site that i have become aware of the specific climate change issues effecting Africa, and particularly Mt Kilimanjaro. My trip to frica will be that much more meaningful now, thank you. I will inform the Climate Change Australia group that i am a member of.

For me this is one impresive photo, due to the fact that if we see around, there is nothing, all is dry…
It is amazing how the elephants are moving risking by themselves to
find water, food and other enviorement to survive.
