PUTTING TOGETHER A GOOD BICYCLE FROM MANY PARTS DONATED FROM EUROPE. THE BICYCLE WORKSHOP IN ECOCITY MAKES USABLE, CHEAP, ZERO EMISSIONS TRANSPORT. IT HAS MADE BICYCLES FOR 1,200 CHILDREN WHO USE SPECIALLY MADE SAFE CYCLE TRACKS TO GET TO SCHOOL.

  1. Terry Martin Says:

It would be useful to know collection points for bicycles and tools etc so as they could be made available to similar projects in developing countries.Sadly, second hand bicycles are of little interest to young people in the uk as there is no street cred in owning one.

  2. Peter Christensen Says:

In Copenhagen the city is full of old bikes that are just left somewhere on the roadside. It looks bad and most of them will never become bikes again. They are just left overs from our material overflod. I am sure that people in my neighbourhood would like to organize a collection of old and forgotten bikes for your workshops. But how to get in contact and how do we get the bikes down to EcoCity?

  3. Deborah Says:

Great project. How can we make exsisting large cities more bicycle friendly. For myself living in NY, although there are a few bicycle lanes here and there, I feel unsafe riding around. For example, people driving and walking are not accustomed to watching out for the bicycles, so they regular cut me off or simply walk right in front of me without looking first. In addition, many people here look at bicycles from the point of view of inconvinience when compared to commuting in cars/taxis. Seldom do I hear hear a multilateral point of view. how can we change the overall culture to make US cities more bicycle friendly?
